M2: Is ':' part of what's being hashed by hash(ip:port)?
The email announcement yesterday reminds us that:
As stated in the handout, you MUST use md5 for hashing. During the demo, TAs will ask you to type specific keys to see if your hash ring works. You can check the hexstring of your hashing result using https://www.md5hashgenerator.com/
I consulted the handout again, and here's what it says:
The position of a given storage server is calculated by hashing its address and port (<ip>:<port>).
Which begs the question:
Do we hash the ':' ?
