Server/Client behavior is ECS is killed

What is the expected behavior if ECS is killed? Should servers continue to accept requests/store data? Should they shut down? They would have no way of reinitiating connection with a new ECS.

I think we assume that the ECS doesn’t fail or get killed until the very end.

When ECS is killed:

  • Client won't know about it
  • Server won't know about it until it shuts down.  In that case, the server should log; and I guess it's a choice of whether to let the KVServer shut down or not.

Perhaps a TA can comment/clarify the behavior.

Maybe it gives an interesting idea for MS4. Remove the single point of failure. Create a quorum of configuration servers.
